What Are the Core Values of the Gospel?
Posted by Scott Coombe
Here’s a short list right now:
Your heart is central to your walk of faith. Your heart is good.
Relational healing community with a purpose... not just to kill a wed night.
Intimacy with God. All works: ministry, devotions, Scripture reading, worship, discipleship are to bring you to a closer walk with the Lord.
Spiritual Warfare is real and requires proactivity in prayer. If you are not under attack - you are not working for Jesus’ kingdom.
The ’In’ crowd is a mystery, don’t try to make yourself Christian Cool because it don’t work. Jesus’ followers were not cool.
Beauty and Joy. God created beauty to be enjoyed and awed at His handiwork. Our joy is precious and often has to be fought for - the Evil One will steal it every time if you let it.
There is Truth to be uncovered, wounds inside to be healed and glory for us to unveil. Keep tight with Jesus and He will show you.
Every person was created for a purpose. You are you for a reason. All your heartache, your skills and passions are intended. Yet, we are often taken out by Satan long before we arrive at our mission and begin kingdom work. God will reveal your purpose. Where you are at vocationally or academically is temporary - not who you are. God has you where you are to both grow and minister as the person you are. Don’t doubt yourself - He makes us adequate.
Counseling and Healing are major purposes of the church. We all carry so much baggage and deep wounds... we need the HS Counseler 24/7 just to maintain. But we also require the help, listening and ministry of our brothers and sisters.
And don’t let me leave out the transformation we undergo, first to the "new creature" and then the fine tuning "renewal of our mind" everyday. B W/ Him and you will live a radical life. The pleasure shall be both of yours.
These may seem vague... please feel free to expound. Please don’t be laying any bricks (read Mystery discussion) as core values.
