How it all got started
The whole world is bound up in a love / hate relationship with God. Christians who once praised Him now walk away. Many are saved from misery to find the grace, love and passion of the Lord.
We also have a whole world who worships false teaching about Him. We have people who are okay with God but have no idea who He is. We have others who are violently opposed to even the mention of G. O. D.
What happened? What has gotten this whole emotional rollercoaster going?
Picture your wedding night. You have just bound your most holy vows to your chosen one. And that same night you meet some stranger at the party and have a midnight rendezvous with them.
Horrible you might think.
Adam and Eve kicked off their honeymoon by joining with the Devil.
“What is this you have done?” God asks pained with betrayal. (Gen 3:13)
God had painstakingly created us for loving each other. He created grand purposes with wondrous glories for us. We’re to work side by side for eternity.
And we slapped His face. Actually, we still slap His face.
Satan got our first parents’ hearts to doubt God by whispering “God really isn’t good. He’s holding out. You have to take things into your own hands.”
And paradise was lost.
And today, with a spirit of self-reliance and independence we take our work and even our religious activities into our own hands, in hopes God will be pleased.
Yet, God still has a plan for us and a purpose to fulfill. We are still a product of His painstaking craftsmanship. His love and toil still pours out upon us. His renewal of our minds and restoration of our hearts shows us the resurrected life.
And the life calls to us, in our longings and desires to join with our lost lover. I’ve realized He is continually calling us, speaking through our hearts. We just need to recognize his voice.
He’s pleading with us to unplug from the Matrix and renew our relationship with Him. There is a whole ‘nother world He wants to show us. Where there is warfare, cries for help, great needs, captives to rescue and wondrous victory. There is also romance, love, beauty and adventure.
Everything our heart secretly longs for lies in the Kingdom which God calls us to enter into. Every great movie is based upon the reality God is drawing us toward. Yet, we need to disengage to hear from Him to find it – to have ears that hear and eyes that see.
Jesus modeled this by going up for mountaintop pray times and seeking His Father continually. Why?
For the journey is not centered on our power or talents. We need His power and His direction to fight the good fight. He knows what battles need fighting and will send us the strength to overcome.
Let us never forget that we are not the hero of this story… God is the hero of the epic struggle upon this earth. We are but able men willing to join in the forces of eternal good called into a battle raging since Adam and Eve’s fall for the glory and honor of our great King.
And we are significant players. God created us so. He has purposed us for glorious things. Let us take a moment to find our place among the ranks of men called up for the Lord. He raised you to eternal life, brought you from captivity with the blood of the Son, and He requires your love, heart, mind, body and soul.
I don’t know what else we could offer.
Fight with us, mighty men, us Special Forces for the Lord. Big things are happening. We will be claiming a Cathedral in the heart of a city the Lord desires to know HIM! Don’t believe that we shall grow without resistance.
I pray the Lord reveals His treasures in your life and your place among us.
